Moonlit aggregates legal data from official sources worldwide into structured, continuously updated legal information, available through its platform, API and MCP for research, monitoring and integration. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Moonlit builds tools and structured data that help lawyers, in-house legal teams, legal AI vendors and public institutions find, analyze, and track legal and regulatory information.
Moonlit's platform provides access to a database of more than 100 million legal references across more than 30 jurisdictions.
Luna, the platform's AI assistant, answers legal-research questions grounded in that source material. Moonlit also offers an API, allowing legal AI vendors to integrate its legal data directly into their own applications and an MCP server, allowing users to plug Moonlit's data layer into their existing AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and CoPilot.
Moonlit's technology is used by legal and compliance professionals, including at institutions such as the Hoge Raad (the Supreme Court of the Netherlands), De Nederlandsche Bank, Deloitte, and KPMG. The company focuses on making primary legal sources more accessible and searchable through natural-language search and machine-readable interfaces for both humans and AI agents.
